Calanthe triplicata

(Christmas Orchid)

This evergreen terrestrial orchid grows in shaded, well-drained situations in rainforest. Its dark green leaves are pleated and up to 90cm. Around Christmas it produces a fleshy, green stem up to 1.5m tall and bearing numerous white flowers, each about 30mm across.
